Grow your eyelashes with this routine

If you perform a search for the uses and benefits of Castor oil, you will wonder how you ever lived without it. Everything from removing skin blemishes, growing hair, disinfecting wounds, boosting immunity, back pain and even to treat ringworm. There are tons of sites touting these benefits.

I first came across castor oil when I was looking for a way to tame my long curly hair. I have type 3B curly hair, which basically means it’s unruly. There are many recipes and uses for the oil to help curly hair look healthier and become more manageable and I must say that it did help me. For my hair, I had bought a 16oz bottle of Premium Nature Castor oil, based on some good reviews on Amazon. Castor oil is thick and sticky and this brand is no different. Using it straight out of the bottle takes some getting used to and it has a slightly ‘organic’ smell to it but it doesn’t bother me at all.

As I looked for different hair recipes for the castor oil, I came across some articles stating that it could also help to grow your eyelashes. Now that’s a great benefit, I thought. Who wouldn’t want longer, thicker lashes?

There are many eyelash growth serums on the market and most of them are quite expensive. I’ve been curious about how they would work, but never tried them.

Since I already had the oil, I pulled out a few of my disposable eyeliner brushes, and decided to give this a shot.

I found that the best time to apply it to the lashes is just before bedtime, I wouldn’t be going out in public with the oil on my lashes. It is sticky and thick but not irritating or overly bothersome to me. After a few nights, I got used to the feeling. Depending on how bothered you are with that feeling, your experience may be different.

Using the small eyeliner brush, I applied the oil in a gentle stroking motion directly to my upper lash-line. I liberally coat my actual lashes in a downward direction with my eyes closed. Although I don’t apply directly to my lower lashes, some of the oil makes it onto them. I read reviews that you can see dramatic results in just a few days, but I’m too much of a realist to believe that. I was very skeptical that I would see any benefit at all, but I was still hopeful. I repeated this routine every night for 5 weeks.

Results:

I must say, my lashes were indeed fuller and I would go so far to say that they were longer. I can’t be sure if it would work for everyone, but all I can say is that I saw an improvement in my lashes.

I will continue to use this and post a follow-up article at some point but for now, I suggest trying this routine if you want try lengthening your lashes, especially if you have some pure castor oil sitting around.

If you do try it, I would love to hear from you.

Hugs,
V
